Dave Greiser has been a Mennonite minister since 1980. He’s served churches of all sizes, from rural to inner city. Being a pastor lets him be with people in the most joyous and painful intersections of life, seeking to name the presence Jesus in each situation. It offers the weekly adventure of preaching the meaning of scripture for these people and this time and place.
Dave grew up in a working class home in Hatfield, PA. After college and seminary, he served North Park Mennonite Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Then he was invited to help start a new church in the University City neighborhood of Philadelphia. West Philadelphia Mennonite Fellowship grew into a strong congregation with participants from fourteen countries.
Following graduate study, Dave became the preaching minister at Souderton (PA) Mennonite Church and taught preaching at Palmer Seminary. For a time, he directed the Pastoral Ministries program at Hesston College in Kansas. In late 2009 he became the pastor at North Baltimore Mennonite Church. He’s also a core faculty member at St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute-St. Mary’s Seminary.
Dave has been married to Anita Nussbaum Greiser for 40 years. Anita is a retired schoolteacher who spends her days tutoring, reading mysteries and grandmothering. Dave and Anita have a daughter and a son, both married. They have three grandsons.
Dave has eclectic interests. He watches and critiques movies, follows popular culture, loves the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles and 76ers, expends adrenaline jumping out of planes and riding in Indy Cars (see videos), reads history and philosophy, and has season tickets to the Baltimore Symphony. Lately he’s been learning to play guitar.
