Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get there?
We are located in the Roland Park suburb of Baltimore, MD near John's Hopkins University. The Church is located on the corner of Oakdale Road and Roland Avenue at 4615 Roland Avenue. Grab a map here.

Where do I go when I first arrive?
Because we are located near the heart of Baltimore land is at a premium and we don't have a formal parking lot. Our main entrance is on the Oakdale Road side of the church. Parking is available on Roland Avenue, Oakdale Road and Woodlawn Road one block behind the church. We try to leave several spots open along Oakdale Road close to the main entrance for people with disabilities. There is also a handicap accessable ramp on the Roland Avenue side of the church.

Is there something for me?

Our Kids’ Ministry staff will welcome your children with open arms. If you are empty nesters, single, divorced or have middle or high school students, follow signs to the Sanctuary. We happily accept all shapes, sizes, colors and life status. If you have questions our greeters positioned at the main entrance will be happy to help.

What is the style of your worship service?
Our service at 10:30 am is somewhat traditional and features relevant hymns sung by a congregation known for it's 4 part harmony. We use video along with praise songs occasionally before the message allowing you to authentically experience God. After each message there is a time for reflection and then response from the congregation. This proves to be one of the more lively times during the service as many different thoughts are shared on a single passage or message. Be sure to hang around after the service for Fellowship Hour, the treats are very tasty.

What should I wear?
Whatever you normally wear. We are more concerned with meeting you than with what you wear. At North Baltimore Mennonite you'll see nearly every style of clothing. (Some of our Youth are known to walk around in socks or barefeet)

What if my children need me while I'm in the service?
If your child needs you during the service, one of our Kids' Ministry staff will notify you in the sanctuary.

What do you believe?

Like many city churches, North Baltimore Mennonite is a diverse group-culturally, spiritually, politically, and theologically. Although “Mennonite” might bring to mind images of rural people in horses and buggies, our people are more comfortable in cars or on public transit. We are more likely to be found working in offices, hospitals, law offices or classrooms than on farms.

What we share in common is a desire to know and serve Jesus Christ, who laid down his life for us and calls us to lay down our lives for each other. Mennonites share many beliefs in common with other Christians: a belief in God as Trinity; in the Bible as God’s unique revelation; in the new birth in which Jesus forgives us and gives us a powerful new life; and in the local church as the gathering of God’s people in the world. Mennonites carry a deep commitment to a life of service, nonviolence and the way of peace in following Jesus.
